Sinopse: Zack Snyder, o diretor de "Madrugada dos Mortos", é o responsável pela adaptação para as telonas de "300", minissérie em quadrinhos de Frank Miller e Lynn Varley. Na história, em 480 a.C. uma fenomenal força de ataque vinda da Pérsia (o historiador Heródoto fala em mais de dois milhões de homens) entrou na Grécia pelo norte e chegou até a Fócida, no extremo oeste da Grécia Central. Leônidas, um dos dois reis espartanos, posicionou seu exército, com aproximadamente 4.000 soldados, nas Termópilas, um estreito desfiladeiro próximo ao mar. Dessa forma, conseguiu bloquear a passagem dos invasores enquanto as outras cidades gregas eram avisadas por mensageiros. A estratégia teria sido bem-sucedida não fosse um traidor que revelou aos persas um atalho que possibilitou um ataque devastador pelos flancos. Como o código de honra dos homens de Esparta repudia a derrota ou a rendição, Leônidas decidiu resistir até o final, juntamente com sua guarda de elite, os 300. O resultado foi uma das mais heróicas batalhas da história. O diretor do filme disse em entrevista: "Estou realmente empolgado sobre 300. Falei com Frank [Miller] ao telefone e conversamos sobre o roteiro que eu e meu colaborador Kurt Johnstad escrevemos. O texto é baseado quase exatamente no gibi e tudo o que fizemos de diferente foi adicionar uma segunda história paralela, com a esposa do Rei Leônidas tentando conseguir o suporte de mais tropas para o seu marido, pois queremos um pouco mais de 'girl-power' no filme", revelou Snyder. O diretor também falou que espera trabalhar bastante com Miller, que é produtor executivo do filme e um grande aliado. "Temos sensibilidades parecidas", afirmou. Além disso, comentou que o filme terá um visual estilizado, mas nem tanto quanto "Sin City", também de Miller. Porém, ele espera conseguir levar para as telas certas imagens com perfeição. O deformado Ephialtes é uma delas. "Fizemos uma maquete dele e ficou igualzinho ao visual das HQs. Também estamos trabalhando assim com os Imortais [a tropa de elite do Rei Xerxes]", concluiu.
